Iniesta dedicates goal against Chile to Valdés

As noted by a brief report in Catalan sports paper Sport, midfielder Andrés Iniesta appeared to be very motivated in Spain’s final group stage game against Chile, and part of the reason for his performance was his great friend Víctor Valdés.

The blaugrana‘s goalkeeper explained that Iniesta announced before the encounter, during their bus journey to the stadium, that he was going to score a goal and that he would dedicate it to Valdés. The midfielder from La Mancha kept both promises. The goal was scored and the celebration was directed towards his friend. The Barcelona midfielder went into the match with restored confidence in his chances to both play and score, after verifying that his physical problems [bout of injuries] have disappeared.
